Sex with animals – another Swedish Model?

The Local is an online newspaper published in Sweden, in English, about Sweden.  As some readers of this blog know, legislation that criminalises clients’ purchase of sex but not the sale of it is widely known as the Swedish Model. Two sides of a sociocultural conflict claim opposite effects for this legislation: that it solves the problem of prostitution and that it makes it worse. Research is brought forward to prove both sides and neither is persuaded of the other’s truth.

Sex with animals has, until recently, not been seen as a social problem like prostitution. The following news story illustrates the verging-on-hilarious ease with which THIS topic may be discussed publicly by a government Minister at the same time that talking about the sex industry, sex work and sex workers still causes deep frowns and anxiety for the majority of well-meaning educated Swedes.

My point is that ideas about sex are often not predictable within cultures, as another story, about naturists in Germany, showed. People often dismiss the Swedish law on prostitution as puritanism, but this is not sufficient and explains little. Please note the apparently progressive gender analysis and granting of agency and choice to the female dog who is penetrated by her owner.

Swedish bestiality ring exposed
11 Nov 08

A Swedish newspaper has exposed a network of self-proclaimed zoophiles who meet regularly in locations around the country to have sex with animals.

The group, consisting of an estimated thirty people, is headed by a 45-year-old father of two, Expressen reports.

The unmarried former managing director is also moderator of a large internet animal sex forum and has a number of dogs and horses on his farm in southern Sweden.

Having infiltrated the network over a period of several months, Expressen eventually confronted the 45-year-old over his alleged mistreatment of animals.

But the man was quick to defend his relations with a bitch he bought online from a city-dwelling family who said they wanted the dog to have a better life in the countryside.

“Any of the times I did anything with her she was the one who backed into me and provoked it. She was in heat and made herself available. There were also times later when she didn’t want to and then I backed out immediately,” he told Expressen.

During the time spent with members of the network, Expressen learned that the group regularly brought along a range of different animals to “sex meetings” at rented premises.

There, members of the group filmed their sexual encounters and distributed them to other animal sex enthusiasts.

At one meeting in a small village in Småland, five men waited for a woman who had promised to bring along two dogs. But when she was unable to make it to the meeting, the men spoke instead of their experiences, including a previous visit to a colleague they referred to as “donkey man”.

“He has a goat and a couple of donkeys. We tried with a donkey but it didn’t work. But we did have sex with the goat,” one of the men told Expressen.

Previous calls for a law banning sex with animals have fallen on deaf ears. Agriculture Minister Eskil Erlandsson outraged many observers earlier this year with a graphic defence of existing animal abuse laws, in which he presented examples of the difficulties faced by courts when trying to differentiate affection from abuse.

“Is it, and should it be, legal to spread something on the genitalia that might smell or taste nice to a dog, in order to allow the dog to lick off whatever is spread on the genitalia?

“Should it be permitted to stroke a bitch’s teats with love, or should it be classified as animal sexual abuse?” the minister wondered.

According to the Swedish Animal Welfare Agency, 115 cases of bestiality were reported in the years 2000 to 2005.

Despite indications that many of the animals had sustained injuries, none of the reports led to criminal charges.  [end of The Local article]

I’ve been waiting for something like this to happen. Sex should only be by full consent and I’m enough of a specist to not believe animals are capable of full consent with a human.

To continue the Onion-like feeling of the article, I wonder if — since some of these animals were shared around and appeared in porn — they’re going to be rehabilitated by rescue groups to instead do menial farm work or maybe guard sewing factories where human sexual trafficking victims learn to sew.

Jokes aside, the thing that creeps me out is the wording the animal-lovers use; it’s very similar to the words one hears from child molesters here in the States. This implies non-consent and abuse to me.

How fascinating that people in Sweden can apparently hire animals for sex and overtly discuss the agency of animals, but are prohibited from paying for sex with adult people who have clearly articulated their consent!

Thank you, Amanda, for making me laugh at the image of trafficked animals aiding in the detention of sex workers forced into sweatshops. Let’s hope no one tries it!

The idea that consent is necessary for sex with animals is kind of weird in a world where it’s morally okay to slaughter them for food. Do they consent to that? And if it’s morally okay to slaughter a goat, it’s not okay to have sex with her? Isn’t sex less of an impingment?

I think we have to accept the existence of the contradiction. I share the feelings of most people that it is okay to eat goat and it is weird and wrong to have sex with them. They are strong and immediate reactions, hard to move with argument. But I think what it shows (and I think this was Laura’s purpose) is that our morality about such things is based on emotionally anchored convictions, and not on logically consistent principles.

I think it is disgusting to have sex with animals, but it should not be illegal. There are many things we dislike or socially condemn, but yet are still legal. In my opinion, it is ridiculous to treat animals like people unless we want to eat them or use them for experimentation. The principles upon which law is founded should be consistent, our social mores do not. There is no way someone should be punished for having sex with an animal while next door someone else is slitting the throat of an animal for food. Let’s not forget hunting or keeping animals caged in a zoo for life.

I may not like the Idea of having sex with an animal but I think that it should be under the pretence that the animal is not harmed then let it be legal. there are many things that are legal that man y people disagree with but that does not mean that they need to be made illegal. this is what some people like so I think that they have a right to what they want as long as the animal is unharmed by their fetish.

Zoophilia is fairly new to me by only watching it on-line.I am 48 yrs of age
a lover of Dogs and Horses living in Blackpool,Lancashire the North West
of England.I do not own any animals now but if I could find out if there were like minded people in the U.K. willing for a newbie for a first time experience I would love this to happen. In my opinion I think zoophilia should be made legal and not such a Taboo subject. There are far worse things happening in this world.

I know if I was a sheep i’d rather have a farmer have sex with me a few times a day/week than being slaughtered, dismembered and eaten. So long as the practitioners and advocates of zoophilia and bestiality aren’t being cruel and mistreating the animals I don’t see any problems. Also I can’t see any logic in the argument that an animal is unable to consent, animals are quite capible of letting people know when they are hungry and want to go relive themselves, they are just as good at letting other animals know they want sex. To accomplish this they use BODY LANGUAGE, although they are unable to verbally consent, they can let others know they want some of the old nasty-nasty.

Who are the animals here? The people having their way with dogs, horses and sheep or the four legged victims of this mental disorder. How can anyone actually try and justify these acts? It has nothing to do with religious morality but more of a mental disorder that should be treated. It is not a normal human condition to desire such encounters and I would compare it closely with pedophilia. I’m curious what the psychiatric experts think about this subject.

I was 13 when I found myself at home alone with my pet pitbull Susan. I do not remember how it happened, but it did. And it happened many times until I was 18 when I left home. I am 80 today nd still remember Susan. She wanted it every time I did. And I did every week.

I just cant believe how many people on this planet are bent over human glorification. It’s a terrible thing. It is an awe inspiring emotion to be accepted by an animal as an animal. If humans could just for a minute, put aside their hate and prejudice and fear, and really think hard about all these negative comments that they are stating about animal sex, they might realize that man and beast are very similar in the way they think. Body language is different of course. You have women that run their hands through their hair, and other humans find that attractive. Some people are turned on by a swishy tail, and fur rubbing on them. To be one with an animal is an indescribable sense of inner peace, joy, and love. Its like being whisked away from the hateful, spiteful world of human beings, and instead, living in a world apart from humanity. It’s sort of like looking through the fence on the “other side” as you hold your dog in your arms, and in your heart, feeling that animals love completely surround you. For the genuine animal lover, or zoophile, having an animal for a mate means following all of the “normal morals” that husband and wives share, such as respect, love, devotion, and honor for their counterpart. For all you anime people, if you have ever watched dragon ball z before, animal love is sort of like living on the world of the kye’s, but instead of there being kye’s there, it’s animals. It’s that kind of feeling. Belonging to something so much greater than we as humans could ever be. Its that sort of love and spine tingling enlightenment that i can’t even begin to describe, you just have to put your own hate and glorification aside to see it, to feel it, and to understand it.

And besides all of that, a male dog ramming his swollen knot back and forth inside of a bitch is going to cause a whole lot more bruising of a dogs vaginal than a man can. :)

How can people justify their hate, prejudice, and spite towards something they don’t understand. Being human is not the greatest thing on earth. The biggest problem is that people are too full of what they are. Get over it!

Another point to consider, is that people use their own personal opinions and emotions of the subject matter to try and convince other people that having sex with animals is wrong, without ever understanding or trying to understand what its all about. If you will think for a moment, and I’m sure you have heard, that larger dogs have had sex with smaller dogs. Now, I’m talking about a German Shepard doing it with a beagle. If a smaller dog is in heat and a larger male dog is nearby, the larger male dog is going to go for it. Now if you are concerned about a dog getting injured during sex, that beagle is going to be sore for about a week. Now, are you saying that the Shepard should be regarded as a sick criminal, because he just got done blowing his load into a smaller dog? As obe one canobi stated in a star wars film ” You are going to find that a lot of the beliefs we cling to are based on one’s point of view”. You have people with certain beliefs that are trying to oppress other people that do not share those beliefs, which enrages individuals whose beliefs are not being upheld by other people. It is a selfish, self-righteous attitude towards other peoples differences. Animals are not bad, people are not bad, but when you combine the two together, some people view it as “bad”.
Also consider that in the wild, there are cases of inter special breeding, although it doesn’t happen frequently, there are cases. Should such animals be treated as cruel criminals, and evil beings because they have broken away from their own species and chosen to mate with different species whose anatomy is also different from their own? And as far as civilized goes, i have to laugh. We spit on the sidewalk, we flip people off, we drive though stop signs and break the speed limit every day without regard for the rules of the road. We steal, kill people with or without good reason and kill innocent animals just for fun and sport. I would hardly say that we have a better example to set than the animals. So what if we strut around in fancy designer jeans, holding a cigarette in an upright position. So what if we walk on two legs instead of four. It is all “image” and has nothing to do with “what” we actually are. Our bones break, our flesh bleeds, our feelings can be hurt, and our pride wounded. We are neither invincible, nor better than our animal counterparts.

I believe there are too different things going on here. 1 Sex with animals – which could be abusive and against the animals will and cause injury. 2. Animals who want to and inititate sex with animals. I happen to enjoy this and have for a number of years since I was binding over making a bed and a friends lab ran in and began to attempt penetraion. After that it became a frequent activity and since I have always had large dogs most but not all have approached me. When that happens I accept it and will allow it when ever the dog choses. I do not approach the dog. When I have had friends with dogs who approached me and they approved their dogs and I have developed relationships. I love animals and have been approach by animals considered wild, I think they sense something about me. I don’t believe most women are approach in such ways at least as frequently. I do love and now prefer sex with animals.

i think that making love to your girl or boy animal should be legal, and why not, who are we/you to say who another can or cant love, the assholes of this world say its cruel and it should not be, thats just because they would not do it, thats like saying if i dont like to eat egg then no one should eat egg, i think its ok to love even if it is your animal, and befor anyone says it, i think that the one’s that do harm to the animals should be put in jail, and so on, but it dont mean all out there dont truly love our animals, but just because some out there do harm why should we all pay the price for there wrong, you get child abusers and rapeists and other sex crimes but yet you/they dont ban humans having sex to try to stop the bad things happening, so why stop thoses who trully love the animals………….. IT SHOULD BE MADE LEGAL WORLD WIDE AND THE BAD ONES DELT WITH LIKE NORMAL.

I think a male animal having sex with humans is totally fine — clearly they are showing “consent” by getting an erection and penetrating and pistoning to orgasm! A female animal, however, cannot “consent” to being penetrated, so I say welcome the male animal’s penis for joyful penetrations and wet orgasms, but leave the female animals alone, unless they want to lick your human sexual openings to orgasm… Female animals give consent to lick you just by doing it — I’ve opened my legs for a good lesbian licking by a friend’s horny female dog, but, no penetrating a female animal should be allowed…

@Ashleigh, females animals can also give consent, if they are in heat a dog will do his ritual to tell the dog is ready to be penetrated, same for horses and other animals.

Also even if a female is not in heat, the human can polite ask if the female would like to be penetrated, receive oral sex, or be masturbated. If the female doesn’t show pain, fear, submission, anger, or tries to get away from such action and the female show willingness, happiness and pleasure or at least don’t care that such action is being done to her is pretty much clear the female is consenting to that.

Just like you know a dog consent to be petter in the head when he shows he likes it, and you know he consent. A bitch can consent to be masturbated and show she likes it in the same way (an her orgasm can tell you are doing a good job at it) but also just as you know a dog doesn’t like to be petted you can know i a bitch doesn’t like to have sex at all or out of heat.
